You know what promotes teen sex? Having a vagina and a penis.
I think that's just silly.
I'm not Catholic, but I agree with them. The vaccine is not necessary if the virus can be prevented simply by keeping one's legs together. And you avoid all the side-effects too!
The only reason you would have your daughter get that shot is if you're planning for her to have premarital sex. For one thing, that would be immoral, as a parent, and secondly, it removes "trust" from the parent-child relationship. You're saying to your child, "I don't trust you not to have sex before you're married, so, since you are incapable of thinking for yourself, like an animal, I'm going to vaccinate you like a dog."
The HPV vaccine is inappropriate because its effects haven't been studied on long term health.
They are out of touch with reality . It's a cancer vaccine , not a prophylactic .
I think that anyone who believes this, is lacking in information. The only way HPV will promote teen sex is if the vaccine is given without explaining it to the child.
HPV will not protect against AIDS, pregnancy, other STDs...you know, all those things that teens worry about when having sex. When is the last time you heard a 15yr old say "I can't have sex! I could get HPV!" ? Teens are more worried about pregnancy than anything else. If the vaccine is explained to the general public, and teens are aware that all these things can still happen to them, I do not see a rise in teen pregnancy because of the vaccine.
BTW: KiraJen: A virgin female, having sex with her husband for the first time on their wedding night...can get HPV and possibly cancer. HPV is carried by the male. Even if the female kept her legs together until marriage, she is still at risk. This proves my point that the general public needs more information.
I think they're being irrational. What about those teens who are victims of rape or molestation? It's protective...so they don't get diseases from some creep who thinks it's ok to go out and mess around with young girls.
I think most catholics are full of it
but I disapprove of the HPV shot, I think we need too sit back and see if there are other side effects in the long run
A vaccination does not promote sex...it promotes health!
