  • Well, just like the question says. More teens are now running away from their household because of numerous reasons. What do you guys think are the most common reasons why they're running away?

  • Some run away because their parents don't approve of them being with a guy they like. It's a very stupid concept really...

  • I'm planning to run away from my house,
    i just can't take it,
    I feel like i'm a failure, a loser.
    I've done alot of ****,
    i've made my mother cry.
    i'm skipping school alot,
    i can't keep this up.
    i'm comtenplating suicide.
    i want to run away.

  • Because life is a f***in' joke!!

    Edit:

I just want to say in response to some of the answers below me, saying that it's because of "abuse," pregnancy," etc. ...

That's BULL. For some teens, that may be true, but seriously ..

We run away because this world is f***ed up. You live, and then you die. Tomorrow isn't promised, so we want to live everyday as if it's our last. We don't want to spend our entire lives searching for things we may never live to find. Again, tomorrow isn't promised. If I want to do something, I'm going to do it now; there may not be a later. Yeah, I could go to school everyday and bust my *** to get a 4.0 and all of this other sh**, but what would it all be for if I got into a car crash and died before I even graduated? It would just be a good life WASTED on bullsh**.

For example, I want to live in NYC someday, and I'm 16. Why the hell can't I go now?! There may not be a someday for me. As far as I'm concerned, today is the only day ..So I'm gonna live it up. I'll say it again: Life is a f***in; joke!!

That's why we run away. Not because we DON'T care, but because we DO.

  • Simple, most of them don't understand that their parents are really trying to help them.

  • They wanna do what ever the heck they want.

  • 1) abuse
    2) to be with someone they were banned from seing

  • Conflicted emotional state, no one to talk to, growing pains, yearning for attention out of selfishness, spoiled brat-itis, etc.

  • I think parents aren't parenting properly.. Young kids having kids.. They aren't great parents.. (I'm not saying ALL young parents so relax) I just think people are very lax when it comes to discipline now a days and no one follows though and then all of a sudden, those kids are teenagers and are now getting into things potentially harmful.. (experimenting with drugs, sex, etc..)
Now mom and/or dad steps up to parent but it's too late and the teen rebels and runs away..

  • they don't like rules. they want to govern themselves and don't want to answer to anyone.

  • Probably Depression, Bullying, or Family Issues. If teens dont get along with their families, thats a huge influence. You often hear of teens with older boy/girl friends that run away to be with them when their parents disapprove. Or if they are being bullied in school or home. Bullying can drive some kids to suicide and most likely running away as well. Depression might also cause kids to run away. Feeling like they have nobody left in the world...yeah that'll do it. My advice- dont run away. It would be expensive and painful

  • Family life is breaking down. Parents want to/have to work all the time, yet they still want to have that picture-perfect "family." Unfortunately, many don't want to make any sacrifices.

Kids are feeling increasingly angry and neglected -- like they are the fifth wheel. They are being abused and molested behind closed doors. Instead of children being made to feel loved, wanted and special, many parents treat their kids like they are a nuisance.

When the kids get a little bit older, the parents are just reaping what they've sown. Then comes the rebellion, drugs, sex, running away and all the things that make parents feel guilty and cry.

  • Hard life at home they don't wanna put up with? Feeling neglected and unloved by their guardians. The reasons are numerous.

  • they hate the way their parents treat them or their parents are not letting them do what they wanna do!!! because of all the stupid stuff on the tv parents are freaking out lol! and holding back their kids...idk

  • "THE TEENAGE YEARS" are very tough because because you're at an age where you feel like you must impress people to be cool or that you must have those expensive shoes to fit in and in the end it ain't worth it. Teenagers feel like no one understands them and that Life is cruel no matter what. Of course there are those who run away because their parents treat them bad or because they are pregnant or even just for fun.

  • Their brains haven't developed enough to realize the consequences of their actions after they run away. as for reasons, hmm, family trouble, or pregnancy.
