Last year's Columbus Crew team was a big disappointment, finishing in last place after being the preseason favorites. However, they do have the not so great distinction of leading the league in one historical stat: They had the best goal differential (GD) of any team to miss the playoffs, at 0. This is pretty good considering that 64 of 88 MLS teams have made the playoffs in its history.
Currently, San Jose is two points ahead of Dallas for the last playoff spot in the West, and they have a +6 GD. If they lose they will take over this unwanted record.
The team with the worst GD to make the playoffs is the 1998 Miami Fusion, at -22.
In the following table, shootout wins are in the same column as draws.

San Jose got the draw, so they'll stay out of the record book.
