i know i have asked this question before. i have another one. what happens when an actor gets sick. like if danny pinaturo had the flu while on whos the boss. or jeremy miller had chicken pox while on growning pains.
They write "around" the character. They make an excuse why the character isn't on the show, at camp or something. The writers then just write a story that concentrates on one of the other characters. These shows are filmed weekly, so they can be out sick for a week without any harm to the show.
They wouldnt be able to do the show. If its not a lead character they could probably take him/her out for that show. Time is definitely money in movies and they rent a ton of their equipment so if a main character gets sick they are paying a lot of people to do nothing that day.
Sometimes they do get bruised and scratched but for the most part they use stunt doubles to take the big blows or do the big action sequences. When actors get sick the production and actor will either do their best to cover it up and soldier on or in the case of hospitalization they will move on to something else that does not require that particular actor.
Sometimes you can wear pads under clothes, but most of the time, you have to grin and bear it. I've had so many bruises from shows over the years. It also can be the way you fall. You have to do it where all of your weight doesn't hit the floor first. It's hard to explain, but it's done professionally all of the time.
If it's dealing with theatre, most of the time an understudy goes on, but I've seen many times actors go on stage when they are deathly ill. No one usually notices. I'm not sure in television.
